Observations
Using one or more of your senses to gather information.
Qualitative observations are description that don't involve numbers or measurements.
Examples: smells,tastes,colors

Quantitative observations
Measurements.
Examples: mass, volume, height, weight, length

Inferring the process of making interpretation based on observations and prior knowledge.
When you explain your observations, you are making and inference.

Predicting
Making a forecast of what will happen in the future based on past experience or evidence

Variables
Factors that change in an experiment.
Independent variable
The variable you change. ( also called manipulated variable)

Dependent variable
The variable that changes due to the independent variable. ( the dependent variable is also called the responding variable)
