the Rise of the Safavid Dynasty

  • Shah Ismail started the Safavid Empire.

Conditions at it's Climax

  • Had many clashes with the Ottomans who were overall superior
  • Had many rebellions due to costly wars

Reasons for the Decline of the Safavid

  • Shah Abbas I died in 1629. His death marked the beginning of the end for the Safavid empire
  • After Abbas I's death his sons were put into protection. This lead to ill- equipped leaders.
  • Safi, Abbas's son and heir was extremely cruel. He murdered all claimants to the throne, including his mother.
  • All this lead to a decline in trade, which lead to a decline in it's military. In 1722 Afghan invaders reached the capital of the Safavid empire.

Role of the Shah

  • The Shah was the supreme leader of the Safavid empire.

Safavid Economy

  • The Safavid Empire's economy was mostly based on trade
  • Traded mostly silk, persian carpets, and textiles with europ.
  • Also traded horses and goat hair and spices as well

Culture

  • Islamic dominating
  • Artisians were an important part of the Safavid empire

Islamic Awareness

  • The Islamic awareness society try to teach people the way of proper Islam
  • It would be hard to be Muslim in america now, because of radical islam. Many americans believe that all muslims are radical Muslim.

Taj Mahal

  • A burial place of Shah Jahan's third and favorite wife.
  • Also s mosque of Islmic place of worships
