Desiderius Erasmus was a scholar, humanist, and a Dutch writer. He was born in Rotterdam somewhere around 1466. In 1492 he was ordained and, studied in Paris. In 1499 he chose the life of an independent scholar traveling cities tutoring, and corresponding and lecturing with thinkers all around Europe. He started writing about theological and secular subjects in 1500. Some of his works attacked corruption and superstition in the church. The Protestant reformation took him on a new path. He still remained catholic but, he was in sympathy with a few of the Protestants reforming instincts.

WILLIAM SHAKESPHERE

William Shakesphere was a actor, playwright, and a poet. He was born on April 23 1564 in Stradford-Upon-Avon England. When William was 18 he got married to Anne Hathaway and had twins. After they had their twins people called it the lost years, and there were a lot of theories about what William was doing during this time. His family lived in London and he worked at a theater. William was working with an acting company called Lord Chamberlain's Men. He wrote plays for this company, and acted too. He became very bob popular in London and The Lord Chamberlains's became very popular.The owner of this company decided to shut the place down, so William dismantled the theater and moved across the Thames river. They has many great famous plays there, and then Shakesphere became famous for his poetry, and died on his 52nd birthday

JOHANNES GUTENBURG


Johannes Gutenburg invented the printing press often thought of as the most important invention in modern times. He made it possible for people to write thousands of books and type letters instead of writing them. If the printing press wasn't created we wouldn't have the renaissance, and a lot of things would have been very different. He was born in Mainz, Germany sometime around 1398. Gutenburg thought it would be easier to use metal keys to write things onto paper instead of wooden blocks to Peres ink into paper. His invention spreaded very quickly around Europe and made education much easier. Soon after he wrote his first poem it was a German one. After the poems he wrote a Gutenburg bible and printed 200 of them very quickly

MICHELANGELO

Michaelangelo was a scuptor, painter and architect. He was born on March 6, 1475 in Caprese Italy. He grew up in the Italian Renaissance and even as a child he wanted to be an artist and paint. When he was 13 he was apprenticed to Domeinco Ghirlandaio who was a painter and artist. While working with Ghirlandaio his work became more popular, and within a year was sent to the Medici family to continue training to become a sculptor. Michelangelo moved to Rome in 1496, and a year later received a commission to make a sculpture named the Pieta. It's a sculpture of Jesus after he was crucified laying on his mothers lap. As his fame grew he got another commission to make the statue of David that took him a few years. David became his biggest piece of art and was 13 feet tall. Michelangelo went back to Rome and got another commission to paint the wall of the Sistine chapel it had 9 scenes of the bible and 300 people. The most famous painting was the Creation of Adam, Gods hand and Adams almost touch
