WHAT IS A RED SCARE?

  • THE INSTALLATION OF FEAR IN A NATION OF THE POSSIBLE RISE OF COMMUNISM.

What happened?

  • After Lenin cried out for a world revolution to communism a radical group formed in the U.S.
  • That group sent bombs to U.S. officials and entrepreneurs.
  • 36 bombs were sent to John D. Rockefeller, Supreme Court Justice Oliver Holmes, and U.S. Attorney General Alexander Palmer.
  • Some of these bombing attempts were unsuccessful, one even killed the bomber.

Who is involved?

  • Vladimir Lenin- was a Russian communist revolutionary, politician, and political theorist.
  • Many U.S. officials and entrepreneurs were targets for the Red Scare attacks.

When did this happen?

  • This first started with the Bolshevik Russian Revolution in 1917, ending in the early 1920s.

where Did this happen?

  • Many of the bombings happened at the houses of those attacked. Some in Washington.

Why/how did this happen?

  • During the Russian Revolutions,to communist rebels tried to overthrow capitalist Czars and Tzarists.
  • They then replaced the Provisional Government with the Bolshevik Government
  • Lenin then called out for world revolution, reaching America. Some people heard this cry, and listened to Lenin and started a radical group very similar to the one in Russia.
