Mercury (1st Planet)

  • Day length: 58 days,15 hours,& 30 minutes
  • Year length: 88 days
  • It's made up of mostly iron & a very thin silicate crust.
  • Atmosphere: Doesn't have one
  • Temperature: 800 degrees Fahrenheit
  • No moons
  • 70% of the surface are small craters
Information about the planets in our solar system
An easy way to remember the planets order:

My- Mercury
Very-Venus
Easy- Earth
Method- Mars
Just- Jupiter
Speed- Saturn
Up- Uranus
Naming- Neptune
Planets- Pluto

Venus (2nd Planet)

  • Day length:243 days
  • Year Length: 225 days
  • Made up with a central iron core & rocky mantle, similar to Earth.
  • The atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide
  • 864 degrees Fahrenheit
  • No moons
  • Volcanoes,lava flows,& craters are a few features

Earth (3rd Planet)

  • Day length: 24 hours
  • Year length: 365 days
  • Earth is made up of mostly oxygen
  • Atmosphere:78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, of other gases.
  • About 61 degrees Fahrenheit
  • 1 Moon
  • Some of Earths features ocean trenches, volcanic islands, and mountain ranges.

Mars (4th Planet)

  • Day length:1 day & 40 minutes
  • Year length:687 days
  • Made up of a thick layer of oxidized iron dust and rocks of the same color.
  • Atmosphere is 95% carbon dioxide
  • Temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Has two small moons
  • Sand dunes, glaciers, & ancient rivers are some of the features on Mars

Jupiter (5th Planet)

  • Day length:9 hours & 56 minutes
  • Year Length:12 years
  • Composed with hydrogen & helium
  • Atmosphere: mostly hydrogen & helium solar proportions; other compounds are in small amounts including: methane, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and water.
  • Temperature: 234 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Has 63 Moons
  • The planet's is covered in red, brown, yellow and white clouds. One of Jupiter's most famous features is the Great Red Spot.

Saturn (6th Planet)

  • Day length: 10 hours & 39 minute
  • Year length: 29 years
  • A giant gas planet 94% hydrogen & 6% helium
  • Atmosphere: Similar to Jupiter, releases more heat.
  • Temperature: -270 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Has 56 moons
  • Has rings that a visible from Earth, and are made of ice and ice-coated rocks

Uranus (7th Planet)

  • Day length: 17 hours & 14 minutes
  • Year length: 84 years
  • Made of various ices, like water, ammonia and methane
  • Atmosphere: mostly Hydrogen & helium
  • Temperature: -371.2 Fahrenheit
  • Has 27 moons
  • Has rings, but they are not as visible as Saturns

Neptune (8th Planet)

  • Day length: 16 hours & 6 minutes
  • Year length: 165 years
  • Made of 80% hydrogen and 19% helium
  • Atmosphere:Mostly hydrogen and helium
  • Temperature: -360.4 Fahrenheit
  • It's blue color is the result of red light being absorbed by gases in the its atmosphere
