INTRODUCTION
- Did you know that the periodic table has 118 elements! Every element on the table is probably something you use in your everyday life for instance boron,boron is used in sport equipment. Take eggs, a breakfast food a lot of people like. Did you have any eggs that have sulfur in them? That’s right every time you eat eggs you are also eating sulfur.
WHAT IS THE PERIODIC TABLE OF ELEMENTS?
- In 1869 Dmitri Memdeleev, a Russian chemist, was the one who invented the periodic table of elements. This was because he thought it would be better off to have all the elements organized instead of all over the place. This helps a lot of people because what it does is when you are doing a science experiment and you are looking for an element on the periodic table you will most likely be able to find the element that you are looking for a bit faster.
WHO INVENTED THE PERIODIC TABLE
- Dmitri Memdeleev was the first to invent the periodic table of elements in 1869 because he wanted a better way to organize all the elements of the periodic table. If you looked at the table a long time ago you would see that there were spaces on the table that were done on purpose. The reason the was done was so the new element could be invented and the pit on the periodic table of elements
ELEMENTS ABBREVIATION
- Did you know that each element on the periodic table has an abbreviation? Elements have abbreviations so they can be identified faster. For instance potassium has the abbreviation K that is because the abbreviation P is already taken by phosphorus. Another reason an element might have a weird abbreviation is because it could also be the Latin name for the element but only the first letter of the Latin name for the element
GROUPS AND COLUMNS
- Each element belongs in a group and or column Li,Na,K,Rb,Cs and Fr, are all alkali metals. H, is a non metal. Be,Mg,Ca,Sr Ba and Ra, are all alkaline metals. Sc,Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,Y,Zr,Nb,Mo,Tc,Ru,Rh,Pd,Ag,Cd,Hf,Ta,W,Re,Os,Ir,Pt,Au,Hg,Rf,Db,Sg,Bh,Hs,Mt,Uun,Uuu and Uub are all transition metals. La, and Ac are both rare earth elements. He,Ne,Ar,Kr,Xe,Rn and Uuo are all noble gases. Al,Ga,In,Sn,Ti,Pb,Bi,Uuq and Uuh are all other metals, C,N,O,P,S and Se are all non metals. F,Ci,Br,I and At are all halogens. B,Si,Ge,As,Sb,Te and Po are all metallics. This is every element on the periodic table put into a group. Groups of elements can also be called a family.
