Location

  • Northern area(ex. Oregon)
  • Reservation- California
  • Shared land with Shoshone-Bannock trib
  • Original pop. unkown; current pop. about 1873

Daily Life

  • Men- responsible for feeding and protecting; hunters, warriors, chief
  • Women- Child care, cooking, clothin
  • Children- hunting, fishing, had dolls, toys, game

  • Went digging, hunting, gathering, fishing

Housing

  • Lived in Wickiups or tipis
  • Materials- willow frame, brush, buffalo hide
  • The family built their housing

  • Water- rafts/reed boat
  • Land- Dog travois; later introduced to horses

  • Women- deerskin dresses/skirt
  • Men- breech cloths with leather legging
  • Colder weather- buckskin shirts, moccasins/sandal
