• Shared land with Shoshone-Bannock trib
• Original pop. unkown; current pop. about 1873

Daily Life

• Men- responsible for feeding and protecting; hunters, warriors, chief
• Women- Child care, cooking, clothin
• Children- hunting, fishing, had dolls, toys, game

Food

• Seed, pine nuts, small game, bison, deer, elk, fish, roots, ect
• Went digging, hunting, gathering, fishing

Housing

• Lived in Wickiups or tipis
• Materials- willow frame, brush, buffalo hide
• The family built their housing

Transportation

• Water- rafts/reed boat
• Land- Dog travois; later introduced to horses

Clothing

• Women- deerskin dresses/skirt
• Men- breech cloths with leather legging
• Colder weather- buckskin shirts, moccasins/sandal

Traditions

• Dances
• Ghost dance: used to ward away spirits
• Bear dance: used to ask for plenty of food
• Trusted in the sun, moon, clouds, wind, stars, thunder
• Many different beliefs and myths
