The Painted Desert is unique to Arizona, and is a part of the Colorado plateau

The Hopis lived in the Painted Desert for over 1,000 years!

During the day and night, the desert walls appear to be red, grey, orange, and yellow. Only at sunset and sunrise do they appear violet, red, blue, and gold.
