THE COASTAL PLAIN IS THE FLATTEST OF THE THREE REGIONS OF NC.

THE COASTAL PLAIN WEATHER AND CLIMATE
The Coastal Plain has warmer temperatures than the other regions.
It's warmer due to how close it is to the ocean.
The Coastal Plain is always a few degrees warmer than the Piedmont.

COASTAL PLAIN LANDFORMS
The Coastal Plain is the flattest region in NC.
The Outer Banks are barrier islands around NC's coast.
Due to lower elevations and many rivers, there are some floodplains.
There are many tributaries that flow into the Atlantic Ocean.
One of the most famous rivers in NC is the Cape Fear River.

NATURAL RESOURCES
A common natural resource is gravel.
Another natural resource in the Coastal Plain is fertile soil.
Oysters can be found on the beaches of the Coastal Plain, such as Sunset Beach.

Half of the US's sweet potatoes come form NC.
Peanuts are another big crop in the Coastal Plain
One other product in the Coastal Plain is fish, since it's close to the ocean.
Some other product in the Coastal Plain are timber, corn, and forest products.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE IN THE PIEDMONT
The temperatures are all moderate in the Piedmont.
Unlike some other areas, the Piedmont gets all four seasons.
Due to its location, the Piedmont is the region with cool and warm alike.

LANDFORMS IN THE PIEDMONT
The Piedmont has the Uwharrie mountains in its area
The Blue Ridge Mountains border the Piedmont from the Mountains.
Many rivers and lakes such as Lake Norman and the Catawba River are in the Piedmont
Low mountains trail from the Mountain Region and into the Piedmont Region.

NATURAL RESOURCES IN THE PIEDMONT
That good old hard packed red clay is major in the Piedmont.
There are some gems in the Piedmont, though most are found in the Mountains.
Some fertile soil is found in the eastern part of the Piedmont, though most is in the Coastal Plain.

Cattle are raised in the Piedmont, so milk and cheese come from here.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE IN THE MOUNTAINS
It's the coolest region of the three, due to higher elevations, the highest being 6,684 ft.
It is much windier in the Mountains, and if you go high enough, bring a jacket!
Even in the summer, the Mountains are comfortably cool and slightly windy.

LANDFORMS IN THE MOUNTAIN REGION
In the Mountain region, of course you'll find mountains, rivers, and some lakes.
Most of the rivers in NC start in the Appalachian Mtns, which trail down into NC.

NATURAL RESOURCES IN THE MOUNTAIN REGION
Gems and minerals such as gold, feldspar, lithium, gold, and emeralds are common in the Mountain region.
Forests cover a large population of the Mountain region, where there are broadleaf and needle leaf trees.
Rivers start in the Appalachian Mountain Range, which are in the Mountain Region.

PRODUCTS IN THE MOUNTAIN REGION
Tobacco was a big product in the Mountain region a long time ago.
Christmas trees are a product in the Mountain region due to all of the forests.
Apples orchards are in the Mountain region and usually picked in the spring.
The apple trees in the Piedmont produce all of the state's apple crop.
Grapes are also produced in the Mountain region.
