The london docklands used to be the busiest port in the world.
In the 1930's 35 million tons of cargo came through
And 100,000 dockers worked there

The boats started getting to big for the docks
New forms of transport started getting used more e.g. Trucks
Containerisation (there was no more need for dockers)
people stopped using the docklands

Docks became derelict

Terraced housing fell into disrepair
Transport links worsened
Services and leisure centres declined

care homes didn't have enough space for the elderly
