The little rock 9 were a group African american students who were registered to go to the little rock central highschool.

They were only fifth teen years old when they entered the segregated school .

Not a lot of students from the little rock central high-school agreed with the decision that was made by the brown .

Because they didn't agree nor like the idea that black students were going to the school .They decided to show one of the memebers (Eckfords family ) how they felt personally .

They became famous of the little rock 9 in the process of school....one of the most important events in the aa civil rights movement ......nine block students from attending high school made national headlines and polarized.That he helped fight for equal rights and a good education .

Years from then they were just teenagers who entered Little Rock central high-school . ....

Elizabeth
served 5 years in the military and later became a probation officer In the little rock .

JEFFERSON THOMAS

  • He graduated from central highschool in 1960 .
  • He was also a Youth Council and state president of the progressive baptist youth convention .
  • He was the first little rock to die on sept 5,2010 .

THELMA MOTHERSHED

  • Was known as the leader of the nine .
  • She earned her diploma through correspondence courses.
  • She also taught home economics in the cast street.
  • She retired after 20 years in 1994.

ERNEST GREENE

  • Was the oldest out of the little nine .
  • He was the first AA to earn a high school diploma .
  • He also served as an assistant secretary of the federal department oflabor under president jimmyCarter

  • Worked as a reporter for the NBC .
  • There group has been widely recognized for their significant role in civil rights history.
  • In 1999 president Clinton awarded each mem er of the group the congressional gold member .
