experience

CONSTRUCTIVISM

  • Learning is based on previous knowledge
  • Active learning is more effective than passive
  • Fosters creative thinking
  • Creates motivated & independent learners
  • Based on guided practice
Always use good teaching practices:
1) Build on previous knowledge means helping
students make the connections
2) Use a variety of methods to get students
actively involved in the learning process
3) Reward & encourage creativity-guided
practice toward logical thinking and finding
the answer.

THE MOTTO:

EVERY LEARNER AN EDUCATOR, EVERY EDUCATOR A LEARNER
Teachers must continue to learn, especially from our students, or in front of our students. This is a form of modeling the very behavior we want to see in class.
1) Think out loud when answering a difficult
question
2) Encourage students to provide/find examples
(you might learn something!)

STRATEGIES:

  • Assessing & providing feedback
  • Responding to learners
  • Employing brain-based strategies
Be sure to assess what you want them to learn

Use feedback as a learning experience

Respond to learners:
1) Positive/accurate feedback
2) Answer questions
3) Be aware of what's going on in your class
