• very metallic,and 4,000 miles to surface

lithosphere

• made of the bottom of the crust and top of mantle
• the bottom is thick of lithosphere
• divided into several pieces of moving rock
• these rocks are called tectonic plates
• they move very slowly

asthenosphere

• is solid
• plasticlike
• 2,200 km thick
• directly beneath lithosphere
• move slowly or float
