PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THEME

  • The themes for Catching fire is courage and bravery
  • Nearly every character in the book is brave.
  • Peeta and Katniss are always willing to die for each other.
  • Mags and Wiress die to protect others.

Katniss hunts for her family knowing it is not allowed and shows bravery.

Katniss is speaking in district 11 where Rue was from and spoke about Rue as a friend in the games when a riot breaks out and the peace keepers take her away.

Katniss jumps in font of Gale to take a lash from a whipping.

Gale is nearly whipped to death and Katniss risks her life to save him. "I can die like a quarry in the woods or I can die here beside Gale." "I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to stay right here and cause all kinds of trouble." This quote is on page 119. This shows that Katniss is willing to die for Gale.

On page 123, Katniss was thinking about what Gale, "Gale is right. If people have the courage, this could be the opportunity." This shows that in order for the plan to be successful then people need to stand up together for each other and themselves.

On page 158, Bonnie gave Katniss the explanation of the bird on the cracker. "It means we're on your side." Bonnie said. Katniss then thought,"I have people on my side? What side? Am I unwittingly the face of the hoped-for rebellion? Has the mocking jay on my pin become a symbol of resistance?" This quote sowed just how much bravery and courage Katniss had on her "side".

This picture represents the growth of Katniss throughout the book.

This photo represents how Peeta's strength and courage has grown over time. After he's spent time with Katniss he became more courageous and grew love for her.

This photo shows how Gale began to forgive Katniss and rekindle their relationship. After this book he became more open-minded and positive.

This was a very interesting book, and at the end of every chapter I wanted to keep going. Although it was fiction it felt real. I felt more brave and courageous after reading this book and I now look at the mocking jay bird in a different way.
