CHARACTERISTICS

  • Entrance :Single-story, wrap-around porches.

  • In 1800—1900, is the peak period of Queen Anne style.
  • In 1831—1912, Queen Anne style got popularized in England
  • In 1874–75, the first important expression rose in Newport,Rhode Island
  • many Americans first saw the Queen Anne style at the Philadelphia Centennial in 1875.
  • in 1875, where the British government built several houses in that style.

HOW THE CORRECT HOME IS THAT STYLE

  • Eclecticism, asymmetry, contrast, and even excess
  • Elaborate motifs decorated gables.
  • Every building sported a variety of surface textures
  • spandrel panels and almost flat surface.

ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF DESIGHN

  • Bottom half of building using horizontal or vertical line
  • Main exterior color is warm color.
  • Roofs and corner tower is random rhythm

WHY CHOSEN THIS STYLE

  • I like warm color exterior.
  • Complex roofs and walls
  • Corner tower is fancy
