WHAT ARE THE ORIGINS OF THE HORSE?

  • The horse came from Central Asia.
  • About 8,000 years ago the horse became extinct in America for reasons never established.
  • In many cultures, the ownership and riding of horses was reserved for the nobility and warrior elites.
  • The European horse became extinct in the early 20th century.
  • The largest horse was a Shire Horse and stood 21.5 feet tall.

HOW DID THE HORSE COME TO THE US?

  • The Spaniards brought them over while traveling.
  • Before we used them Indians used them

HOW DID THE HORSE HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE U.S?

  • They helped farmers pull things like wagons so they can get food and transport things.
  • They helped us with agriculture because it taught us to use the waste as fertilizer.
  • They would be used to plow crops, traded for riding and combat, and used for agility.

WHAT SPECIAL CONDITIONS DOES A HORSE REQUIRE?

  • It needs hay/grass and the population thrives in spring.
  • It mainly lives in the plains or fields, but they can live almost anywhere.
  • They can endure weather as low from -30 degrees to -40 degrees Fahrenheit if they are well fed.

HOW DID THIS ANIMAL HELP THE U.S GAIN POWER IN THE WORLD?

  • The horse pulls wagons to help transport things so people don't have to walk or pull things on their own.
  • The horse gives dairy products such as horse milk.
  • The horse also helps people get or just ride around for lessons.
  • It also helped us with our military so that we could win battles and make justice.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE HORSE DIDNT EXIST IN THE U.S. ANYMORE?

  • If the horse was no longer available in the U.S the farmers would not be able to farm.
  • People would not be able to ride in the country anymore.
  • People would not be able to enter competitions.

  • Horses can run shortly after birth.
