A portable audio player is a music device that can play back recorded audio on the go.

A transistor radio is a small portable radio receiver that uses transistor-based circuitry.
This means it is a circuitry that amplifies a sound through a speaker.
They where developed in 1954 by Texas Instruments.

Magnetic tape sound-recording technology that was popular in the United States from the mid-1960s to 1980s.

The 8-track was created by Bill Lear of Lear Jets in 1964.
It was around until the early 1980s and is no longer made today.
In the early 1980s, the Compact Cassette format took over.

It was used to play music.

Cassette tapes on the walkman are very similar to the tapes on a reel to reel.
Most tapes consist of polymer strips treated with magnetic material to make a recordable surface. These polymers, magnetic tapes are flammable.
