  • As a result from the great freeze lots of farmers moved to the south where they can farm away from the great freeze.
  • Lue Gim Gong of Deland experimented with plants and developed an orange that ripped early before frost could attack.

Across the state the great freeze killed many orange trees

  • The farmers planted groves in drained land where freezes were less likely to occur.
  • By 1910 the groves recovered. Citrus growers were producing as many oranges as they had before the great freeze.
