ABOUT THE GESTAPO

  • German Nazi Secret Service
  • Organized in 1933 after nazis gained power
  • Had its own courts, judge, jury and executioner

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE JEWS.

  • Starved or worked to death
  • Medical experiments tested on many of the jews
  • Escaping led to death penalties
  • Hundreds were packed into gas chambers and
  • Burned dead or alive in creamitoriums.

SOLDIERS

  • Units were taught many torture techniques
  • 2 Gestapo police in Nazi Germany
  • Could kill whenever they wanted with no reason
  • Could not be tried for anything (no consequences)

PURPOSE?

  • To hunt out people considered a threat
  • Eliminate all Jewish people

  • After WW2 very few members of the SS were brought to trial

  • New SS members would beat the jews
  • Gestapo name came from the first few letters of Geheme Staats Polizei
  • Anyone who refused to work would be shot and killed right away
