WHAT WAS THE MIDDLE CLASS

  • Before the middle class there were two major social classes
  • The middle class started to take over all "white collar" jobs
  • Had the ability to hire domestic servants to work in their home
  • Comprised of businessmen

JOBS

  • Effected the amount of people working in "white collar" jobs
  • The larger the Industrial Revolution grew, the more powerful they became
  • They formed new libraries, schools, and universities because there was a sudden need for education
  • the better jobs led to better housing and food

HOME LIFE

  • Became separate from work life
  • Children are able to go to school
  • Domestic servants made life at home easier and less stressful
  • The middle class had minimal difficulty living through the industrial revolution
  • Population grew

WOMEN

  • Men were making more money
  • Women started working at home
  • Became emotional support from the stressful work life men had
