This Comic Shows

  • Lincoln and Johnson stitching the US back together
  • Their faces show how happy they were, and how easy they just forgave the south
  • Lincoln is holding the US thier with a Railroad Tie. Railroad was getting much more popular in the south.

The Reconstruction is

  • The North letting the south back into the Union.
  • The Black Codes were used to reimpose the social structure of the south.
  • It was used as a loophole to still have slaves. "forced labor", The south adopted this policy.
  • Congress responded by adopting 3 new amendments the 13th-15th

The 13-15th ammendment

  • 13th- Abolishes Slavery
  • 14th- Declares all men, no matter what race, equal rights
  • 15th- Gives the right that all men can vote, no matter what gender, color, or race.

What is this machine and why is it important

This machine is the first steam engine

  • This invention revolutionized america, bringing us the train, steamboat, and so much more
  • This machine sparked the 2nd industrial revolution of America

The 2nd industrial revolution was:

  • The advancement of trains across the US
  • By 1913, the US was the worlds top industrial output.
  • It was the first time in history that more people lived in cities than farms

What made the US the world power it is today?

  • A world power:A country that has significant influence in international affairs.
  • We became a world power eventually from all the other effects of the civil war.
  • We had a major industrial revolution, making us a very powerful compared to other countries.
  • We had a boom in the population having millions immigrate here for jobs
  • We had more people working in cities, working together rather than individualy on a farm
  • We had the best train system in the world transporting goods quickly and effiecently
  • We ended all forms of slavery
