In 1933 the Nazi Party organized a boycott for Jewish businesses throughout Germany. When their businesses would collapse, others would swoop in and take over the businesses.
On November 9, 1938, the Nazi party and others who joined in took part in what is known as Kristallnacht, or "the Night of the Broken Glass." They torched synagogues and broke windows of Jewish businesses, and broke into their homes, robbing and beating them. About a hundred Jews were killed over the course of that night.
