On November 9, 1938, the Nazi party and others who joined in took part in what is known as Kristallnacht, or "the Night of the Broken Glass." They torched synagogues and broke windows of Jewish businesses, and broke into their homes, robbing and beating them. About a hundred Jews were killed over the course of that night.
