  • Cavalier poetry originated in 17th century england
  • The cavalier poets were loyal to their king.
  • They were also known as Royalists.
  • Cavalier poetry is straightforward but also refined.
  • It originated in england.

  • People involved with cavalier poetry were Robert herrick, thomas carew, sir john suckling
  • An alternate poetry group called the sons of ben were influenced by cavalier poetry

BIOGRAPHY:THOMAS CAREW

  • Sir Thomas Carew was born in the early part of 1595
  • He was the son of Sir Matthew Carew and his wife Alice Carew
  • He wrote " A Rapture", " He that loves a rosy cheek", " Ask me nomore"
  • He died March 22, 1640

ANALYSIS OF THE POEM

  • When i analyzed the poem i found that he was talking about his lover or the girl he loved
  • A few symbols that i saw in the poem were spring, he said that the flowers sleep because of her beauty symbolism of shameful
  • He personifies the phoenix as a bird of fire and its nest.
