CHAPTER 2
The mentor entered the den. Wisp, the Healer, froze, eyes widened. She gave a swift nod and rushed to her herbs. The scavengers returned from their trip and immediately dropped their parcels, with their fur standing on end, they rushed to help Wisp. The crowd of initiates murmured uneasily,
"The pack's never seen a food poisoning this bad," silence,
"What if our whole food supply has gone bad?" panicked yelps flooded the training den. The alpha hushed the initiates with a loud, sharp bark. They snapped to attention, some tripped of surprise, their tails up. Emotion clouded Blizzard's eyes,
"I know you're all scared. I've heard some talk about the food source being infected," his joules quivered with worry,
"Though that means more work for the scavengers." a few of the scavengers grunted in annoyance and turned their head away. A young muscular wolf burst out before Wisp, a paw length away from from her long mussel,
"THAT' S NOT FAIR!", his teeth were clinched and his ruff was up, " We Spent All Day hunting! " the other scavengers nodded solemnly, "We should send some initiates!" another scavenger barked, soon a ruckus commenced, all the scavengers were protesting, "My paws hurt!",
"I have cubs to feed!"
"Enough!" the loud clear bark of the alpha made everyone jump and let out a startled yelp. " The situation is as bad as it can get. " his muzzle furled with frustration, " This isn't the first time we've had this problem. Your acting like immature pups! " he glanced back at the little black wolf, his eyes were relaxed with care. Blizzard lowered his voice, " I don't care how you fix it, just take care of the problem at our paws! ", he sighed and walked away solemnly.
