Types of Vocabulary
- LISTENING - words we recognize by spoken context
- SPEAKING - words we can use correctly while speaking
- READING - words we comprehend as we read them
- WRITING - familiar words we are comfortable enough with to use when writing
Part of reading comprehension is monitoring, in order to realize when you don't understand something. This requires meta-cognition skills: the power to think about your own thinking. From there you can reason to find solutions and gain understanding.
