PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE ARCTIC WOLF

PREDATORS OF THE ARCTIC

FACTS

  • Arctic Wolves are forced to live in one of the most inhospitable locations of the world---due to Human populations, shooting and killing them. 😪

When eating big prey, such as oxen, they have to eat every single part----including the bones---because food is so scarce.

Arctic Wolves, are one of the very few wolves that can tolerate the harsh weathers of their arctic habitat.

The Arctic wolf's diet mainly consists of lemmings, and arctic hares, but small prey such as these are not very sustainable for this top-of-the-food-chain predator.

HUNTING STRADEGY

  • When the wolves go on the prowl, they need a stradegy, like in a football game. They spread out at try to seperate the young and weak from the herd. Then, they are unprotected and helpless; kand the pack can easily get in.

PACKLEADERS

  • The alpha pair are the only only ones allowed to mate and reproduce offspring. The alpha male leads then into a hunt, while the female stays at the den and guards the wolfpups.

WOLF BABIES!!!

  • During some time around spring, the alpha female gives birth to pups.

GROWING UP

  • Then, when the weeks and months go by, the pups will grow bigger, and soon they will be able to eat meat, and even hunt with the pack. 😎
