* Known for it's tropical climate (because it is located on the equator)

* It is hot and humid(like other rain forests) throughout the year

* annual temperature of 27 degrees Celsius(80.7 degrees Fahrenheit)

* There are not that many seasonal changes

ANIMALS

* Home to 427 different species of mammals, 1,300 bird species, 378 species of reptilians, and more than 400 species of amphibians

* Mammals: jaguar, three- toed sloth, and river dolphin

* Birds: macaw

* Amphibians: glass frog and the poison dart frog

* Reptiles: anaconda and the Jesus lizard

Plants

* Home to nearly 40,000 plant species

* Many of the Amazon's trees are economically important- used as food, oil, and medicine.

* The Congo river basin is the second largest river basin in the world.
* It has an area of 1.3 million square miles(3.4 million km)

* The Congo Rain forest is warm and humid because it is on the equator.
* The two main seasons are: a dry season with slightly less rain and one long rainy season.
* All rain forests are important to the world because they produce 30% of the world's oxygen.
* It rains about 117 days per year.
* It also has a total of approximately 1,766 mm of rainfall per year.
* "Temperatures range between 20° and 27° C".

Some of the mammals in the Congo Rain forest are forest elephants, chimpanzees, bonobos, and lowland and mountain gorillas.There are 400 other species of mammals,1,000 species of birds and 700 species of fish.
