PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Dear Mrs.LaRocca, I am writing to you to inform you on my voyage to the New Land. I hope I can get you to fund this amazing trip. I am going on this voyage because not only do I plan on finding rich spices and herbs, but also to find land that hasn't been claimed in anyone's name. If we can accomplish these goals then not only will you to make money off trading these goods, but also by placing trading posts in the New World so we could collect import taxes and control all trading within the New world.I feel that it's more important to start off at a new area instead of traveling to China because we would be guaranteed a profit instead of a gamble for a deal with China. Also the Portuguese are taking all of the trade so we need to hurry on this expedition. For this journey I will need plenty of food, water, a galleon with 80 sailors and a large sloop with 75 men, cannons, gunpowder, and a nice sleeping quarters for the captain.

While we are on the sea we may face problems like pirates or problems with our boat. After those potential problems would be resolved we could interact with angry tribes of Native Americans in the New Land. Even if this doesn't happen we may have to force them to trade with us. We plan on finding Native Americans in the New Land. We will offer them gifts and other trinkets as a way of peace. Hopefully they would be able to share with us some of their spices and vegetables like corn and tomatoes. We also hope to bring Christianity and animals like horses and pigs to the Native Americans. Hopefully the animals will help them with getting food and traveling.

"If you assert that your reverence for our Celestial Dynasty fills you with a desire to acquire our civilization, our ceremonies and code of laws differ so completely from your own that even if your envoy were able to acquire the rudiments of our civilization, you could not possibly transplant our manners and customs to your alien soil"
-quote from a letter to King George the Third from Emperor Qian-Long of China

This quote helps you see why it's a much better idea to travel to the New Land other than China. China is very picket about who they trace with so it's better off not to even try to negotiate with them.

The map helps to show how trade commenced during the time period. It also shows you the specific items that were traded
