Before the 22nd Amendment

  • Before the 22nd Amendment there was no

  • Even without the limit many presidents decided to
  • follow George Washington's example and only
  • serve a maximum of two terms.

What Does it Say?

  • The 22nd amendment basically says that
  • a president can only serve two four year terms
  • It also says that the amendment does not apply
  • to the person holding the office of president
  • while the amendment was being made

Why was it Made?

  • The amendment was made mostly because
  • of Franklin D. Roosevelt
  • It was made because Franklin D. Roosevelt
  • served a little more than 3 terms breaking
  • the two term tradition

  • The presidents truly affected were Bill Clinton and
  • George W. Bush

  • because it stops any one person from dominating
