Was Ratified February 27, 1951
Was passed March 21, 1947

Before the 22nd Amendment
Before the 22nd Amendment there was no
limit on how many terms a president could serve.
Even without the limit many presidents decided to
follow George Washington's example and only
serve a maximum of two terms.

What Does it Say?
The 22nd amendment basically says that
a president can only serve two four year terms
It also says that the amendment does not apply
to the person holding the office of president
while the amendment was being made

The amendment was made mostly because
of Franklin D. Roosevelt
It was made because Franklin D. Roosevelt
served a little more than 3 terms breaking
the two term tradition

The amendment hasn't affected many
presidents until recently in 2000
The presidents truly affected were Bill Clinton and
George W. Bush

Why is it Important?
The 22nd amendment is important
because it stops any one person from dominating
the executive office for to long
It also stops the united states from becoming like
a monarchy
