THE FIRST SEVEN PRESIDENTS

ON APRIL 30 1789, GEORGE WASHINGTON TOOK HIS OATH OF OFFICE

George Washington was the first President of the United States, the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He set many examples for being a president, and they were called " Precedents". The precedents he set were 1. Serve only two terms, 2. Do not interfere with foreign affairs, and 3. Mr.President.

JOHN ADAMS

John Adams was the second president of the United States of America (1797-1801) having earlier served as Vice President to Washington. The most defining moment of his presidency was during the XYZ Affair. The XYZ Affair was when three French agents approached his diplomats and demanded a bribe. The Americans denied their bribes and ignored them.

Thomas Jefferson was an American Founding Father, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the third President of the United States. He also played a major part in the Louisiana purchase, which nearly doubled the size of the United States of America!

JAMES MADISON

James Madison, Jr. was an American statesman, political theorist and the fourth President of the United States. He was president during the War of 1812, and made many crucial decisions during this time. One of his nicknames were "Father of the Bill of Rights", for drafting the first ten amendments.

JAMES MONROE

James Monroe was the fifth President of the United States. Monroe was the last president who was a Founding Father of the United States, the third of them to die on Independence Day. One of his most known acts was the Monroe Doctrine, which stated that no foreign countries shall interfere with American affairs nor settle on American soil. In doing so will be viewed as an act of aggression.

JOHNS QUINCY ADAMS

John Quincy Adams was an American statesman who served as the sixth President of the United States from 1825 to 1829. He also served as a diplomat, a United States Senator and a member of the House of Representatives. He also served when the American system was created, which was a very important public document, where it promoted production of the United States economy.

ANDREW JACKSON

Andrew Jackson was a hands on do it yourself man who liked to get his hands dirty. He believed that Native Americans were not real Americans and should be treated as illegal immigrants. He served during the Nullification Crisis, which
was a sectional crisis created by South Carolina's 1832 Ordinance of Nullification.
