  • 1984 Republicans held a nominating convention
  • During that a group protested policies Ronald Reagan made 
  • They did not like the U.s nuclear policy 
  • At the end of the march in front of Dallas city hall Johnson lite the flag
  • Johnson was the only one of est 100 protesters to be arrested

The flag burning started a national uproar. Politicians then worked for a constitutional amendment to prohibit it.
