WHAT TASKS DOES THE ROBOT PERFORM?

WHERE/HOW IS THE ROBOT USED?

  • Civil security
  • Police department
  • It can move arms, head, and hands
  • Operated via an Oculus Rift headset, motion-tracking vest, armbands, and gloves.

WHAT OTHER TASKS cAN it PERFORM?

  • It can touch, lift, and move things
  • Medical
  • Military
  • Construction

ADVANTAGES:

  • It can help people and animals
  • It can do things people may not be able to do
  • It can go places people may not be able to go

DISADVANTAGES:

  • Travels at only 5 mph
  • Still experiences some lagging
  • It can cost from $20,000-$500,000
  • It could break down due to weathering, wiring, mechanical issues, etc.

IMPACTS TELEBOTS COULD HAVE:

  • Revolutionary purpose is not to take someone out of the workforce, but put them back in the workforce.
  • “We'll be using a technology to allow a person to perform a job they would otherwise be unable to perform or not permitted to perform...These men and women joined the police and armed forces in order to serve their country, but now because of injury that ability has been diminished" -Jeremy Robins

WHAT JOBS CAN TELEBOTS CREATE?

  • It can provide employment for people to program, build, and take care of the robots
  • It can help people like disabled military and police officers get back into law enforcement

TELEROBOTICS IN THE FUTURE

  • They could be built with stronger material so it could do something like go to outer space or underneath the Earth
  • They could be altered to travel faster with less of a lag
  • Telebots could be built with more sensors and parts (knees, operating legs, etc.)
