A few things to help you get started in the classroom!

accessibility options

to enhance student engagement
Accessibility encompasses more than just providing an alternative to a mouse-driven user interface.

At its core, it’s about enabling individuals and supporting their unique viewpoints and working styles.

usE 2 finger gesture

up and down to zoom in and out...
Using the zoom function will enable you to focus in on those important areas on the screen.

Assistive technologies not only provide the students with a more focused area on the screen to view but enables you to direct their learning.

I want you to type this into the web browser

Stop using those long and tedious website links.

We have have given students and teachers long a tedious links to access.

Nobody wants to waste valuable time typing these into a web browser or even writing them on the board.

sign up to bitly.com

and start shortening long hyperlinks
The power of the link!

Bitly converts tedious links into bite-sized "bitmarks," perfect for providing your students with quick easy to access website links or "bitmarks".

Remember to have your students sign up to websites as homework not as an in class activity.

use bitly

to shorten your hyperlinks...
Customising your bitmark can help your students clearly see what they are accessing. For example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCOnRj63uzQ

now becomes:

bit.ly/goldrushGoBig

student outcomes

creating a foundation for student engagement
Student Outcomes

If you can understand how to use these 5 tasks from beginning to end, you will have an excellent foundation to build any engaging classroom activities.

And if you don't know... ask!

5 things to focus on

  • A PDF (created from Pages or Word)
  • A presentation (delivered in person and as a video)
  • An interactive book (created in iBooks Author)
  • A podcast (audio enhanced with still images)
  • An iMovie (enhanced using GreenScreen)
Focus on the outcome

It’s important to know what you would like your task outcome to be. You must ask yourself - "How are you going to collect this digital media for assessment?"

Which apps and assistive tools will be needed along the way?

Once you have established the complete workflow, you and your colleagues can begin the task.
