PRESENTATION OUTLINE

IMMUNE SYSTEM

Fight off pathogens (germs). This is used to fight off germs called pathogens. This picture shows a bunch of things in the immune system.

PATHOGEN

Microorganism that can produce an infection. This picture shows a pink germ that’s inside of a body, it looks like it’s about to get into the immune system. This is the closest picture I could find for a pathogen.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Disease that is contagious and spreadable. I pick this picture because it reminds me of the germs and the pathogens that are going into the immune system.

NON-INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Disease that is not contagious or spreadable. This picture shows a cold. Usually not very contagious.

BACTERIA

Extremely small, single-celled organisms without a nucleus. This picture will remind me of the word because it shows the different types of bacteria that get into your body.

VIRUS

Microscopic particle that invades a cell. This picture is showing something invading a cell.

WHITE BLOOD CELLS

Specialized cells that travel throughout your body and attack foreign pathogen. This picture shows white blood cells attacking.

VACCINE

Substance used to stimulate the immune system. It shows a needle for a shot. What they put in there is vaccine.

ANTIBIOTIC

Drug used to kill bacteria. The image shows drugs.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

To breathe in O2 and get it to your bloodstream. To remove CO2 from your blood and breathe it out. I’ll remember the word from this image because it shows energy flowing from the speakers and the respiratory system has a lot to do with energy and breathing, so it works.

LUNGS

Large organ of your respiratory system that takes O2 in and delivers it to the blood while removing CO2. This image will help me figure out the definition of lungs because it shows lungs of a person’s body and it’s what we use to breath out CO2.

ALVEOLI

Air sacs in the lungs. This is where O2 and CO2 all exchanged. This image will help me remember the word because it shows air sacs in the image, it’s just purple.

DIAPHRAGM

Muscle below your lungs that helps you inhale and exhale. This image will help me remember the word because it shows where and what the diaphragm is.

CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

Transport nutrients and oxygen as well as waste like Carbon Dioxide to and from the body’s cells. This image will remind me of the word because it shows a circle with the process we learned.

RED BLOOD CELLS

Carry oxygen for our body. This picture reminds me of them because it shows what RBCs look like and what they’re about. Plus, they’re red!

HEART

A large muscle that pumps blood for the body. This picture will remind me of the word heart because it shows a stormtrooper touching his heart, which I know because the heart is in the middle of your stomach. Also, they’re is a bunch of pink hearts around him.

CAPILLARIES

Connect veins and arteries. This is where gases, nutrients and waste are exchanged. This image will remind me of the word because it shows veins being connected.

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Breakdown food into small molecules like glucose which are then absorbed into the body’s cells and used for creating energy and other life processes.

MECHANICAL DIGESTION

Chewing food.

CHEMICAL DIGESTION

Breaking it down with Saliva.

SMALL INTESTINE

Absorbs nutrients into capillaries that get carried through the circulatory system.

LARGE INTESTINE

Absorbs water and compacts indigestible material (waste).

MUSCULAR SYSTEM

Voluntary Muscles- Control them
Involuntary Muscles- Can’t control them

SKELETAL MUSCLES

Attached to bones. Used for movements.

CARDIAC MUSCLE/HEART

Heart- pumps blood
Muscles work in pairs.

SMOOTH MUSCLES

Move food through digestive system.
