MUTUALISM

  • A relationship between two kinds of organisms that benefits both.
  • Example: cleaning wrasse and moray eel
  • Example: clownfish and sea anemone
  • Example: oxpecker and zebra

PARASITISM

  • A relationship in which one organism lives in or on another organism and
  • benefits from that relationship while the other organism may be harmed by it.
  • Example: flea and dog
  • Example: caterpillar and leaf
  • Example: tick and human

COMMENSILISM

  • A relationship between two kinds of organisms that benefits
  • one without harming the other.
  • Example: when a bird builds a nest in a tree
  • Example: barnacles on whales
  • Example: sucker fish and shark
