WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF CHILD LABOR

  • The term “child labour” is often defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development.

IN MY OWN WORDS

  • Child labor is when people are subjugating children to work for them and to make them work for very low wages even though it's against the law

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF CHILD LABOR?

  • Agriculture(working the fields and planting crops)
  • Physical labor( kids lifting heavy amounts of objects and operating tools that may hurt them

ADDITIONAL TYPES OF CHILD LABOR

  • Mining(kids excavating materials)
  • Deep fishing(kids go underwater where it's dangerous and search for fish)

WHAT IS A SWEAT SHOP?

  • A shop employing workers at low wages, for long hours, and under poor conditions.
  • These sweat shops are mainly located in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

WHERE DID IT BEGIN?

  • Sweat Shops originated during the Industrial Revolution while Child labor originated since Man started to become harvesters and gatherers.

HOW DO SWEAT SHOPS TREAT THEIR WORKERS?

  • They give them poor conditions
  • Very dangerous
  • Low pay for extreme hours

CHAMPIONS OF CHILD LABOR AND SWEAT SHOPS

  • Cesar Chavez who fought against low pay and physical labor of agriculture
  • Not only did he protest for low pay but he also protested for or king conditions.

CONCLUSION

  • Both Child Labor and Sweat Shops negatively impact our world today. Many countries are taking measures to stop it and prevent the expansion because it destroys the economies of nations.

WHAT ARE NGO'S

  • A non-governmental organization (NGO) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens' group which is organized on a local, national or international level.
  • The N.G.O's play a crucialpart in inspecting certain companies to look for child labor and unfair working conditions

WHAT LAWS DO SWEAT SHOPS AND CHILD LABOR VIOLATE?

  • Violate article 13 (focuses on the child's well being)
  • Violate article 8 (prohibits children under 18 to work)
  • Violate article 3 (focuses on the child getting a proper education and child labor distracts the child)
  • Violate article 5 (focuses on the best interests on the child)

WHAT ARE TO CONSEQUENCES TO CHILD LABOR

  • The consequences of child labor is 20 years depending on the severity of the children
