Suzanne Aubert was born on the 19th June 1835 in France, near a place called Lyon and died on the 1st October 1926, at the age of 91.
She sailed by boat to New Zealand after hearing Bishop Pompallier on the 2nd September 1860, and arrived in Aukland on December 1st 1860.
In New Zealand, she was better known as Mother Aubert, or Mary Joseph.
On June 1st 1861, she became a novice (a beginning nun) of the Sisters of Mercy, but later became order of nuns.
On August 31st 1869, she left the Sisters of Mercy and started a bit of missionary work, including missionary work in Wanganui.
In 1884, July 8th, Suzanne Aubert became her own order of nuns (Sisters of Compassion)
