SURVEY'S

  • A method of gathering info & opinions from a group of people
  • While doing research through a survey, you ask people the same questions
  • A survey doesn't influence the person just takes information

USE THESE GUIDELINES FOR YOUR SURVEY QUESTIONS:

  • Ask only a few questions and talk briefly.
  • Ask questions that can be answered simply.
  • Use questions that require a yes or no answer or short statement.

AN EXAMPLE OF A SURVEY:

  • This sample survey shows how one student arranged her survey.
  • The questions are about the types and quality of food brought to the school cafe

HOW DO I MAKE A SURVEY?

  • Write a short questionnarie
  • Use sample words
  • Assure a common understanding
  • Start with interesting questions
  • Balance rating scales & don't make the list of choices to long

Survey's
Another example of a survey can be a cake. A cake has different layers like a survey has it's different steps into making it.

Cakes & survey's
Cake: the large amount of people your asking questions
Filling: the way you talk to the people and questions asked.
Icing: the topping to your dessert, when you gather your new information and outcome.
Which then all become layers and are out together to make a survey and comes out to being a piece of cake.

Activity
Instructions: Get in groups of three. Talk to your group about picking one of the possible topics and create a survey with at
Least 6 questions. Pretend this would be research you were to use when creating your speech. Remember a survey doesn't influence the person just take information.
* What brand of jeans would middle schoolers use most?
* Which mouth wash kills germs the most?
* Is a snack bar necessary in schools?
* Should cell phone usage be banned in schools?
* Schools should ban saggy jeans?

This must be turned in once you are done. NO EXCUSES!
