Summary of Novel

  • The novel is about a young boy named Davey.
  • He and his family are on vacation on a small island when he decided to go for a swim ignoring the "No Swimming" sign.
  • He is then carried away by waves and is stuck in the middle of the ocean, with nothing but water, and sharks.

The Setting

  • The story begins on a beautiful island resort in the Florida Keys
  • It then takes part in the ocean where he is alone and surrounded by sharks

  • The main conflict of this story is man versus nature.
  • Davey is pulled out to sea all by himself and is surrounded by dangerous sharks. He is attacked by a tiger shark and has to struggle to survive
