Frida Kahlo could be considered an artistic icon with her unique, bold paintingsas we'll as her striking appearance. Frida was born and raised in Mexico and enjoyed leaning new languages and about other cultures. She wanted to become a doctor, but a traffic accident hindered er dreams, but it lead her to discover painting. Many of her paintings are self portraits and still life using juxtaposition with seemingly random objects and animals. She plays around with relative size in her paintings, making people appear larger than life. She used levitation giving a surreal, dreamlike look to her paintings. Irrational combinations I believe are a result of her isolation which causes her artistic mind to run wild.
