Slide Notes

People have always been fascinated by superheros but why? Is it their uniform? Or the super power they possess? They may be superhuman but not all are created the same. Some have flaws, some are funny. Some are Strong, fearless, and wise. Many people have a favorite superhero that they have liked since they were little. People identify with these larger than life figures because they are something they cannot become. They love how they save the world and stand for more than just beating up bad guys. Many people get attached to how they are just normal citizens living an everyday life until they put their costume on. People connect with these superheroes for many reasons and that is why America loves them so much.

Many people get attached to how they are just normal citizens living an everyday life until they put their costume on. People connect with these superheroes for many reasons and that is why America loves them so much.

The Beginning

Around 70 years ago superheros made their first appearances. These superheros are still around today but why were these super humans created? These heros came out when there were tough times in america. The American dream wasn't so much of a dream at this time it was more of a nightmare. These superheros brought a lot of hope to america. World war 2 was also taking place around this time and Captain America symbolizing America and the US army was out to defeat Hitler. Captain America defeating Hitler gave Americans a sense of hope that defeating Hitler would be possible and helped the citizens get through these hard times and taught them not to give up.

VILLAINs

Villains, every superhero has an enemy. Superheros and villains are a constant battle of good and evil. Without villains there would be no superheros. As much as they hate these villains they are still the reason these superheroes are still around. The constant battle between right and wrong. These villains seem unstoppable in every way. But why do the superheroes come out on top? Villains, unlike superheros are hated by everyone. Few have good friends that are willing to back them up but yet super heroes always have a friend willing to help. They get along with people and don't search for power or the ability to rule the world. Fighting for whats right and not being power thirsty monsters enables them to gain friends. Away from the idea of super humans and in a perspective of society superheros always win because they are good. If the villains were always winning kids would be looking at them as the role models. Which would promote crime instead of promoting the good values of superheros.

Symbols

Superheros are not just the Movies, comics, fighting bad guys. All of that make them who they are but ultimately they symbolize different values. They give people something to look up to and a sense of hope. Many of the main superheros have a strong symbol such as batman and justice. Or spider-man as responsibility. Even Captain America symbolizing the American way. Not all superheros have a major symbol or value which the main ones do and that is the reason for their massive popularity.

classification

Classification comes in levels, the lower levels do not have many powers and can be very weak. While the higher level superheros are the strongest, fastest, and most powerful. Their classification however does not rank them on popularity. This class system doesn't necessarily mean a class 10 superhero will beat a class 9 superhero in a fight every single time. But it is very unlikely that a class 5 would ever beat a class 19 superhero. These superhero classes can go from kool-aid man and jack-jack from the incredibles up to Galactus which is the most powerful being rated on class 29.

Teams

Superheros have groups, these groups can be more popular than the superheros in it. Sometimes these superheros are more popular than the group however. These groups can be large or small but no matter the size they work together. These teams can break down even further however. A classic diad within a superhero team is Batman and Robin. A few of the teams would be the fantastic four, avengers, or the x-men.

So overall superheros are a lot more than just action packed movies. They have been teaching little kids everywhere good values and the difference between right and wrong. They helped Americans get through hard times such as the great depression and they continue to help people get through obstacles they come across in their personal lives. Whether you like or dislike superheros they have impacted society and helped make America the great country it is today.
