EXPLOSIVE RELEASE OF ENERGY THAT CAN EXTEND OUTWARD.

SOLAR PROMINENCES:
HUGE LOOPS OF RELATIVELY COOL GAS THAT EXTEND OUTWARD FROM THE PHOTOSPHERE THOUSANDS OF KILOMETERS INTO THE OUTER ATMOSPHERE.

HUGE BUBBLES OF GAS THREADED WITH MAGNETIC FIELD LINES THAT ARE EJECTED FROM THE SUN OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL HOURS.
