Summer Maximization Strategy #3

Setting goals and developing a schedule to achieve those goals is about as much fun as it sounds.

{Ahem.}

Just being able to take off a few hours or days here and there is somewhat of a reward for your planning and prioritizing.

But in my opinion, not enough of a reward to keep you focused the entire summer.

Last week, I promised more fun this week.

And in case you missed the 2nd strategy, you can click here.

You see, all year long your inner child is just dying to come out.

But in the summer, your inner child can turn into a beast if you don’t pay it some attention!

Here’s where the fun comes in:

Set a big reward for yourself for reaching the goals you set for this summer ...

Or identify smaller rewards that will make you really happy.

Have you been meaning to take a long weekend in the Bahamas?

Thinking it might be time to plan a European vacation for next spring?

Or even finally, finally order your dream car?

Well, if your goals were set big enough, and you achieve them, you just might be able to take action on that really big reward!

Or perhaps there’s something else, not so big, that would make you really happy.

Maybe you’re not quite in the position to do something big just yet.

All good my friend!

The strategy will still work:

Identify something you really want, that will make you really happy, that you won’t let yourself have unless you achieve your goals!

It could be a camping trip, a new custom shirt, a day with friends on their boat (you know who you are), or even taking the time to read a great book.

The point of the reward, big or small, is to keep you focused and make you really happy when you get to indulge in it.

My point is ...

It’s imperative to keep your inner child happy while your outer grown-up is focusing and achieving outcomes.

Identify a reward commensurate with your summertime goals, and the effort you’re going to put forth to achieve them.

Write it down.

Share your excitement with your friends and family (and even invite them along, if you’d like.)

Then get back to business!

Very soon it will be time to get your reward!
