  • Mustard gas is an Ionic Bond

HISTORY

  • Sulfur mustard was found by Caesar-Mansuete Desperetez in the early 1820's
  • Albert Friedrich Emil Niemann, was the first to depicted toxic properties of mustard gas

  • The substance was originally used as a way to treat psoriasis
  • Sulfur is best know in its use in world 1 as a way to remove enemy troops from trenches

CHEMISTRY

  • Sulfur mustard can be found in gas, liquid and solid form.
  • In warfare it is used as a gas

EFFECTS

  • Mustard gas is non-fatal majority of the time
  • When exposed to mustard gas, the gas will attack your DNA and destroy it
  • Also blisters and burns will appear. Such as in the picture

TREATMENT

  • There is no cure to mustard gas exposer
  • The best thing to do in go into water to reduce the effect due to its ionic bond.

  • Mustard gas had a huge effect on society
  • In world war 1 it either caused or help lead soldiers to their deaths.
  • Or it caused the soldiers to become unrecognizable.

EFFECT ON SOCIETY CONTINUED

  • Next it lead to the death of men in the Iraq- Iran war
  • Also it help lead to the Geneva conventions prohibiting the use of chemical weapons.
