For IB Success

Train for greatness

Much like an elite athlete maintains focus and energy toward his/her craft, so should you if you want to succeed. Footballers like Ronaldo have gotten so far because they've sacrificed more than others to get to where they are.

How can Ronaldo's lifestyle teach about success on an exam (but really to achieve any lofty goal)?

Commit to 4 hours of studying per day.

Much like CR7, who trains over five hours per day, you will need to get into the habit of daily studying. Turn off the phones and facebook updates and go an hour or so at a time. Then walk around or do some exercise. Break the time up so that you aren't seated to do a marathon of studying.

Eat right

Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't drink alcohol, has eliminated unnecessary fats from his diet and eats no desserts or sweets. Not that you have to take it to that level of commitment, yet it is vitally important that you are smart to increase the plant component of your food intake and leave out processed foods and meats as much as possible. A routine of well-portioned healthy plates of food will increase your energy and keep you healthy

Sleep at least 8 hours

While the IB is intensive, it doesn't mean that you should forego sleeping to do well in your classes and on your exams. One of the world's top footballers sleeps 12 hours per day and takes naps. His schedule is almost undoubtedly busier than yours, so this means you can at least grab 8 hours of nightly shut eye. It will require sacrifice: saying no to engagements and routine.
Sleep improves memory and cognitive function, allows cells and tissues to repair themselves and will ultimately help in learning and staying as healthy as can be.

You will reach your goals!

So the take-away is that your routine has to be switched and you should focus on three lifestyle changes to have success and obtain the goal of a high point value after taking your IB exams:
-get into the routine of studying at least 4 hours per day.
-When you eat, eat healthy foods and avoid junk food
-While it feels like the IB contributes to sleep deprivation, you have to schedule your sleep like anything else. Plan to be in bed without your phone or other distractions for at least 8 hours each night. While we didn't focus on exercise, of course, it's important to fit daily exercise into the mix as well.
