Through researching using Lone Star College website and All Abroad website, I found a ton of information on the opportunities available for students to study abroad.
Lone Star College has partnered with area institutions (The Texas Gulf Coast International Education Consortium) to offer their students additional opportunities to study abroad to earn academic credit and experience new cultures.
The Texas Gulf Coast International Education Consortium is made up of 8 partner institutions that work together to offer Study Abroad opportunities to students across the Texas Gulf Coast. These programs are academic credit distance learning classes with a short-term study-abroad component. Students can earn credit in Art, Business, Psychology, Sociology, and more.
On All Abroads website, information is provided to help students plan, find funding, choose the right program for them, and answer any questions or concerns.
There is a way to search for a program, either by location or field of study.
The website provides students a way to ask questions about funding, travel, programs, etc. The questions are answered by other students or advisors who have experience and can assist.
LSC website provides information on how to apply for the study abroad program and how to potentially receive funding. All Abroad provides a source to get information from others with experience on a variety of questions. From housing, payments, getting a job abroad, what to look forward to while you are abroad, etc.
I beleive that studying abroad would be incredibly beneficial to me, because I am an art major.
Studying abroad would give me an opportunity to see to experience a new culture, study the art in person, give me a new perspective on my studies, and expose me to like-minded students who have the same passions as I do.
