AIR VEHICLE STRUCTURE

BY RICHARD FORGET AND JAMES OLIVIERI AND JACK KELLY

INFORMATION

  • Recent form of travel
  • Two types, general and commercial
  • 3 Main types, Lighter-Than-Air, Fixed-Wing
  • And Rotary

LIGHTER THAN AIR VEHICLES

  • Uses hot air and helium
  • Earliest hot air ballon made in France in 1783
  • Hot air ballons - fabric bag with a hole in the bottom
  • Opening allows hot air to rise into it
  • Includes blimps and dirigibles

FIXED WING AIRCRAFTS

  • Most aircrafts are fixed wings aircrafts
  • All use similar structures like triangles
  • Flight crew and cargo are stored in main area called fuselage
  • Multiple wings on fuselage cause lift
  • Tail assembly provides steering power

ROTARY AIRCRAFTS

  • Helicopters are the most common
  • Main body contains most parts like engine
  • Above engine is a set of blades
  • Are adjustable for front and back movement
  • Tail has small rotor to stop spinning from main rotor
