* As all know, Istanbul is one of the oldest cities in the world, hosted different empires and civilisations with more than 10.000 years.
* Historical treasures & ruins from all these civilisations just stay around us
* This city is wounded because of countless wars, fires and earthquakes but still alive
* We are all lucky that we live in Istanbul, and do not have to spend much time, effort or even money to consume every inch of the history
* Geographical location(kavsak, ticari, askeri, strateji), and nature(liman)
* Fulfill its potential after Constantinus
* Planned to be a capital city, izgara tipi sokak yerlesimi(Greko - Romen), Dogu Roma baskent
* Roman, Byzantine, Ottomans
* The city on seven hills
* For example, about 2 years ago; one of my friends took me to a cafe in Uskudar. Name was Seratonin Cafe. It was located on the backyard garden of a konak(old type villa)
* Then I read and googled that, it was an old Armenian konak.
* My aunt has been living in Uskudar for 40 years, the konak is very close to her house. I asked her if she knows there and she answered "I lived there, in the upper floor for 10 years". On her time, the konak was owned by a Karadenizli family. It was so surprising to me. I then be curious about all the places and try to learn the history of there etc.

Ayasofya(Hagia Sofia) Sultanahmet(Blue Mosque) Hipodrom Obelisk of Theodosius Yerebatan Sarnici(Basilica Cistern) Kapalicarsi(The Grand Bazaar) Topkapi Palace Archeological Museum Hamam
Its not easy to draw a route on these places, and cannot decide how much time it takes. So google again. Also the books I mentioned draw really good routes.
* Just walk. Walking increases thinking and creativity. If you like taking photo, do it. If you like taking notes, take them. Just collect memories about the places around.
* Its like trying to see Istanbul from the eyes of a tourist.
* For example, most of friends around me haven't tried any Hamam experiment, but its good; its different. In Istanbul, there are tons of hamams.
* Get lost in the streets. There are really really surprising places & building around like the Konak I tell.
* This city is full of buildings and there are really few open spaces, but still good parks around as Maçka Parki, Yildiz Parki, Fethi Pasa Korusu, Validebag Korusu, Emirgan Parki etc. These are not in the suburbs. It will be good to breath fresh air around.
* Location based tours - Heybeliada, Büyükada etc.
* Art based tours like - Istanbul of Mimar Sinan(Küllliye ve cami ve hamamlar) - Murat Belge - Bogazici, Yalilar ve Insanlar(Bosphorus, Bosphorus Residences and Bosphorus People)
