The theme of steelheart is power corrupts. Power changes everyone no matter who it is. This theme is appropriate because the book is about humans that turn into epics and gain immense power turning them evil. One example that supports this theme is,"power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"(pg.15). steelheart was supposed to be different but power changed him. Another example that supports this theme is,"I am emperor of this city now.""my father stepped forward,gundown at his side. No,he said. you arent like the others. I can see it. your better than they are.""steelheart pointed the gun directly at my fathers chest,then fired a single shot into the already fallen man."(pg.9). steelheart was supposed to be different but power changed him.

One connection i had to this book is that I thought that some of the epics were there to protect the innocent just like Davids father. Another connection is in rise of the planet of the apes there is a group that is taking control of the earth the same event occurs in steelheart.

in the book steelheart by Brandon Sanderson in the distant future a boy named David has an ability to see epics without them using their powers. he wants to join a group called the reckoners who are trying to kill all of the epics. calamity turned ordinary humans into super hero like beings who crave power these people are called epics.
David wants to join the reckoners because he wants revenge on epics for killing his parents. the leader or emperor of the epics is steelheart who has super human strength and can control elements. David has seen the invincible steelheart bleed.this book is a suspenseful journey through Davids life since calamity came.

I thought this book was very good because it has regular humans transforming into something stronger. an example from the book is,"It had only been two years since calamity appeared in the sky. One year since ordinary men started changing. turning into epics almost like superheros from the stories"().
another reason i liked this book is because it has the main character special in some way. an example from the book that supports this is,"he had faultline bury all of them under hundreds of feet of earth killing anyone who could speak of what had happened in that bank. except me().
