Army:
The Romans had one of the biggest armys in the world at their time. They conquered lots of other lands with their army. It was the biggest in the world.

Baths:
The baths were a public place were everyone would go to get clean. It was more like a social place than an actual bath. They made them very fancy.

Caldarium:
The caldarium was a room in the baths. It means "hot room" in Latin because it is the hottest room in the baths. It was the smallest of the baths.

Dogs:
Most people wouldn't know that the Romans owned dogs as pets. Sometimes against barbaric groups they fought dogs. They were usually pets and not in battles.

Entertainment:
The Romans loved to have entertainment like gladiator fights, plays, and chariot races. They had gladiators too. The gladiators fought animals too.

Fierce:
The Romans were the fiercest civil action in their time that's how they conquered everyone. They also faced fierce tribes like The Gauls and Carthage. They also conquered Egypt.

Grand:
The Romans had the largest territory of any other civilization in the world at that time. They had lots of trading writes. They also controlled the Mediterranean Sea.

Hearth:
The Romans worshipped the gods by making sacfrices in the hearth before they ate. They did this for every meal. They didn't do this for snacks.

Italian Pennisula:
The Romans settled among the Italian Pennisula when refuges came from Troy. This is also the place were Rome first conquered someone else. They were also influenced by the Etruscans.

Javelin:
The Romans used the javelin for sports and sometimes for battles. They mostly used them in gladiator fights. They also used them for sports.

Kalends:
The word kalends means the first of the month. In Roman times they would say that. They did use the calendar for dates.

Lares:
The Romans worshipped gods by tossing food into their hearth. The Lares are one of the gods they worshipped because they are the gods of the house. They were very important to the Romans.

Money:
The Romans used a currency of money called denarii. One denarii was about 20 cents. They did use other currency's for trade.

North Africa:
The Romans conquered North Africa along with their huge empire. They conquered Carthage in North Africa. They also took out Numidia.

Overseers:
The overseers were also known as supervisors. They had overseers in the farms to keep a close eye on the slaves that did I the work. They very cruel and harsh to the slaves.

Pilum:
A type of javelin that the Romans threw at the enemy and then started using their swords. This is what really helped them win battles. They threw these in sporting events.

Queens:
The Romans never had a queen but when the Etruscans ruled the Romans they had a king. They hated Queens. They had a dictatorship though.

Remus and Romulas:
These two brothers were fighting and Romulas finally killed his brother and founded Rome. They were nice to their people. They settled right next to the Tiber River.

Stones:
The Romans used stone to build city walls. Peasants also used smaller stones to injure or most of the time kill them. Stones were not a happy thing to see in the Roman days.

Tiber River:
This river is right where Rome was founded. This was very crucial for their survival because it was so close. They could get water and bath in it.

United:
The Romans were united together when they had all of their land. Which would be very hard to control. They did keep under control for a while until barbaric tribes conquered them.

Victory:
The Romans are the greatest at having victories. They had so many decisive victories over their enemy's. They celebrated after victories.

Wars:
The Romans had lots of wars. Some of the most famous wars were the three Punic wars which was Rome against Carthage. They won all three of those wars.

Youth:
Roman boys went to school about at the age of seven. They learned to fight,read,and write. They also trained and learned commands.

Zenos:
Flavius Zeno was emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire from 474 until his death in 491, except for the period from January 475 to August 476. During his reign the western part of the Roman Empire fell to the Goths.Jan 4, 2013.
